Laboratory Management
• General responsibility of laboratory include: trouble shooting equipment, maintaining logs and proper documentation, conducting quality check, rechecks of exams making sure test are done correctly.
• Other responsibilities included the escorting of patients to the exam rooms, assisting the provider by taking vital signs, conducting patient history including chief complaint, and assisting the provider with exams and special procedures.
• On my down time I would assist in the administrative section of the clinics:
A. In the medical records department, I would assist in the maintaining of records, assuring all documents were in there proper place, signed and dated.
B. In the front office, I would assist in the checking in of patients, verifying insurance making sure they were able to see our providers, and answering calls.

• Responsible for the immunization clinic of the hospital. Giving immunization to military personnel, as well as the children on the island, making orders and purchasing supplies.
• When working in the pediatric side I was responsible for the initial exams of the children conducting history, and evaluating overall health of child.

• At PSD I was responsible for providing a smooth transition to future personnel that are coming to the command, preparing welcome aboard packages, answering correspondence, and making sure that the personnel does not have any problems.

• At National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) I began my practice in Basic Nursing Care. I learned access and care for wounds and incisions, provide treatment with medication and physical therapy, conduct laboratory testing to check for infections and levels.
• After becoming familiar with my training I was given the opportunity to instruct new personnel both Officer and Enlisted, in the proper procedure and safe practice of patient care.


Skills:
As a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy, I was trained and became proficient in Medical knowledge and terminology. Training with up to the date protocols and practices with everything medical for 6 years, working for such department as: Pediatrics Clinic, Surgical Ward, and Urology Clinics. With the training I received in military, I was able to apply it to my civilian life as well. My most recent employer was Nevada Health Center, where I was in charge of the laboratory department, maintaining it logs and equipment, keeping sure everything was up to date and in proper working conditions.

I am also Hispanic capable to communicate orally and in writing, in English, as well as Spanish. While working in Nevada Health Center I would assist the provider in examining patients and translating for them, in order for the patient to get the best possible care.

Well trained in the laws and regulation of patient care such as (HIPPA) and (FOIA).

As a Medical Assistant time is very valuable, and making sure every second is used to the most, is something that needs to be learned immediately when practicing medicine. Because of that I am very knowledgeable and proficient in time management, and am able to multi-task in a timely manner.

Being in the medical field the use and knowledge of program is also key to using your time efficiently. I am skilled in the use of computer terminal and programs such as NEXTGEN, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
