I have been in the healthcare profession since May 2007. Specifically as a Pharmacy Technician. During the past two years I have gained experience in outpatient dispensing, controlled substance dispensing and inventory management. While I was employed by Longs Pharmacy, I would perform these duties on an almost daily basis. In addition to these duties, I was also tasked with conducting inventories of both controlled and non-controlled products. I was also responsible for keeping track of pharmaceutical supplies and when necessary, get in direct contact, via computer modem, with suppliers to order the needed supplies. I performed data entry. I worked under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist. During my employment with Vons as a Pharmacy/Mail order technician, I gained the knowledge and experience of preparing and filling mail out and window prescriptions for controlled substances. I also communicated directly with various doctor’s offices for prescription authorizations including refills. I gained the knowledge and experience at Kindred Hospital during my externship how to perform IV admixtures, calculate dosage amounts, and filling cassettes.
In my current employment at Altura Pharmaceuticals, I package drugs manually and thru the use of the Kirby Lester machine. I also perform mathematical calculations in drug packaging, conduct inventory of controlled drugs, label drug packages, organize and sort retention drugs, and assist quality control technicians.
I have excellent knowledge of Pharmacy Law and have excellent customer skills. I have knowledge and experience in aseptic techniques, dosage calculations, unit dosing, transcribing prescriptions, and drug classifications. I am computer literate, versed in Trade/Generics and have a vast amount of experience in drug dispensing, packaging and labeling.
I received my California Pharmacy Technician License on February 2007, my diploma from The American Career College as a Pharmacy Technician on April 2007, and became a National Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) on June 2007.
