POSITION PURPOSE:
We are experiencing rapid growth and need nurses! Best Doctors Inc., an international healthcare company, is looking for RNs to work with our physician consultants and top medical specialists to ensure our members receive the right diagnosis and treatment at the right time. The RN/Nurse Advocate is an integral part of the Best Doctor’s Interconsultation process, a program that provides medical analysis and recommendations to individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions.
We are seeking RNs with a breadth of clinical experience: a minimum of 3-5 years in adult or pediatric med/surg, oncology or cardiology. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Facilitate communication between patients, Best Doctors physicians who are affiliated with Harvard Medical School and renowned specialists.
-Creatively interact with patients, nurses, physicians and hospital staff to gather medical information for review.
-Collaborate with the internal medical staff regarding the cases and selection of an appropriate specialist for each case.
-Contact specialists by phone/email/fax to request case review.
-Prepare documents, including case summary and supporting documents, and fax or email to physician.
-Use extensive understanding of complex medical and nursing problems, review case summaries prepared by internal physician staff for presentation to the patient's physician.
-Educate and answer patient's questions regarding the specialist's treatment options and recommendations.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Fully bilingual-fluent in English and Spanish (formal Spanish)
-Graduate from an accredited nursing diploma, associate's, or bachelor's of science degree program.
Minimum of 3-5 years in adult or pediatric med/surg, oncology or cardiology.
-Ability to recognize the language of the above specialties without being an expert.
-Possess strong verbal skills to complete a comprehensive telephonic assessment of a patient's symptoms and diagnosis
-Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team and patients.
-Superior organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
-Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues.
-Ability to effectively write, edit and review clinical summaries.
-Case management experience preferred but not required.
-Must possess strong computer skills including but not limited to Word, Outlook, Excel.
-Self-starter who is also an effective team player, but can work independently.
-Patient and customer focused with commitment to improving patient outcomes.
