The RN Supervisor of Health Services reports to the Manager of Benefits. In this position, the nurse supervises and provides direct patient care for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and accidents; plans, implements, conducts and evaluates employee health education/screening programs; assesses, analyzes data to formulate a nursing diagnosis; identifies expected outcomes; develops a plan of care; implements nursing interventions; evaluates patient response to assure accurate, effective, safe and timely services; and prepares and operates within a yearly budget.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide direct primary care and follow-up for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and accidents by applying the problem-solving process during routine clinic visits, emergencies and counseling sessions to assure quality care, improve productivity, reduce absenteeism and reduce medical care costs. Establish open communication and rapport with all levels of management and employees to assure understanding and cooperation of individuals involved while maintaining patient confidentiality.
2. Work with other departments and outside companies in planning, coordinating, developing and implementing health screenings and educational programs to improve the health and physical fitness of employees.
3. Monitor employee pregnancies to reduce health risks, medical costs, and absenteeism and to provide guidance during the prenatal and postnatal periods. Acquaint the employee with services provided by the Health Center such as blood pressure monitoring, resting rooms, and lactation support.
4. Conduct pre-employment DOT and non-DOT drug tests on potential employees as well as collecting
the DOT required quarterly random samples.
5. Coordinate bimonthly blood drives.
6. Research and evaluate current health care information and health care providers to assist employees
in making wise choices as consumers.
7. Plan and teach classes based on employee needs and requests.
8. Develop written policies/procedures specific to the Health Center.
9. Serve on committees as requested to provide health care resource representation..
10. Establish a professional network to provide an interchange of informational resources about
occupational health care issues.
11. Recruit professional speakers who are experts in their subject and conduct monthly lunch and
learn educational sessions covering various health/wellness topics.
12. Plan, coordinate, and implement yearly wellness fair held at the Houston office
