DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer. Responsible for the overall management, administration and service provided in the Emergency Department. Supervises the ED Nursing leadership team and works in collaboration with the ED Medical Director to establish, maintain and monitor the delivery of care to patients seen in the ED. Oversees quality, fiscal, and human resource activities and participates in strategic planning activities
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND TRAINING:
Required: Masters in Nursing or related area (MBA, etc)
Preferred: CEN, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years progressive leadership experience including budgeting and human resource management
OTHER:
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Supervises: Clinical ED Director, Clinical Supervisors, RNs, LPN, NAs and ED support staff.
Reports To: VP of Operations/COO
COMMUNICATIONS: Requires constant communication with Hospital Administration, unit staff, personnel and managers in other departments, ED Medical Director, physicians and their staff as well as patients and their families. Purpose includes giving and receiving information, explaining services, rules or procedures, providing instructions or directives. Requires well-developed communication skills, tact and discretion in order to obtain cooperation and understanding, discuss and resolve problems and maintain goodwill.
