 Summary of Position

This individual will be responsible for designing a next generation clinical data warehouse which will serve as the foundation on which future company products will be developed, verified and improved. Responsibilities will include working closely with clinical, statistical and software development personnel to ensure that company databases meet the team’s needs. In addition, the clinical database developer will help design and deploy advanced tools for accessing and manipulating complex clinical datasets.

Responsibilities:

Create formal database designs using ER diagrams, data definition languages, physical models, etc.
Construct databases using scripts and visual tools
Create both manual and automated processes and tools for data cleansing and data verification
Interact with members of cross-functional product teams to ensure data and database design meet requirements
Optimize database schema and queries for maximum performance

Requirements

Essential Requirements

Knowledge of MySQL and at least one other major database platform
Extensive familiarity with clinical datasets
Knowledge of SQL, query construction and query optimization
Knowledge of and experience with formal database design methods and tools
Experience cleaning, verifying and importing external datasets

Additional Requirements

Previous data warehouse construction experience, including OLAP and ETL
Experience operating distributed databases in cluster and SAN environments
Experience with PHI, HIPAA and de-identification of data elements
