Summary of Position
This individual will be responsible for researching, designing and creating new clinical risk prediction tools for use by physicians. The clinical analyst will conduct numerous medical literature searches and surveys, prepare presentations that describe the need for decision support in specific clinical areas, and obtain and research clinical databases for use by company statisticians. A Proventys clinical analyst will use his or her in-depth knowledge of specific clinical disease areas to interact with researchers, physicians, and other members of clinical care teams.
Responsibilities
· Conduct medical literature searches and prepare summary presentations of the results
· Discern and communicate to cross-functional team members the rationale for decision support in a specific clinical area
· Analyze data with basic and intermediate level statistics to determine suitability for risk modeling
· Communicate key clinical concepts, both internally and externally, in support of the development and commercialization of company products
Essential Requirements
· Concentrated knowledge of at least one clinical specialty, preferrably Cancer
· Experience with medical practice, including clinical workflow
· Analytical ability necessary to examine, manipulate and draw conclusions from clinical data
· Ability to interpret and summarize medical literature
· Good communication skills – able to effectively summarize and communicate complex clinical concepts to a diverse audience
· Understanding of current diagnostic challenges and state of the art approaches, including genomic, metabolomic, proteomic, and imaging strategies
Additional Requirements
· Basic experience with statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS, STATA or R
· Familiarity with decision support in a clinical setting
· Experience authoring clinical research protocols
· Understanding of diagnostics, study designs to assess diagnostic and prognostic tests, and diagnostic test characteristics
· Proven ability to develop good relationships with physicians and other members of the care team
