J. M. Huber, one of the leading producers of specialty engineered ingredients, has an immediate opening for a Manager, Financial Reporting and Tax and will report to the Global Director of Accounting for HEM. This position is based in Atlanta, GA. This position is responsible for taking the lead in coordinating internal and external audits, completion of quarterly analytics, development and maintenance of various accounting models and support the interpretation of technical accounting issues. This position will also coordinate the completion of all global tax reporting (property and sales and use) and compliance activities within the Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) sector.
Dimension of Job:
This position will coordinate the development of our quarterly reporting packages to our corporate office and interface with internal and external audit initiatives as assigned.
Responsible at the sector level to be the GAAP and tax expert, ensuring that we are completing all of our filings in a timely manner, coordinating with our corporate office on Tax Stream deadlines and ensuring that all sales and use and property tax accounting is up-to-date and accurate. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Coordinate the development of our quarterly reporting packages to our corporate office and interface with internal and external audit initiatives as assigned.
2) Coordinates the gathering and analysis of data for personal property tax returns.
3) Prepares property tax returns for plants/warehouses/facilities by due dates.
4) Reviews all assessment notices from tax jurisdictions and takes appropriate action up to and including any appeals.
5) Asset impairment models work such as FAS 142/144.
6) Manages all property tax audits, including reviewing tax filing history and tax law to determine deficiencies & opportunities for refunds, compiles audit information requested from auditor and communicates actions to management.
7) Manage consulting agreements with external consultants, review FED and AMT depreciation for Fixed Assets, and respond to property tax inquiries.
8). Process property tax payments, review and prepare the tax comparison for each location to determine any major changes and check for errors in the bills, and prepare check requests and ensure that tax bills are paid accurately before the due dates.
9) Prepare tax depletion for mining business units in accordance with corporate guidelines
Requirements
- Four-year BS/BA degree in Accounting.
- CPA Required.
- Minimum 7-10 years accounting experience, at least four of which is with a Big 4 accounting firm and/or comparable work history that includes exposure to multiple industries.
-Manufacturing experience highly preferred.
- Very strong technical accounting skills.
- Excellent people skills as well as excellent written and verbal skills.
- Working knowledge of foreign affiliate reporting principles.
- Working knowledge of foreign currency accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of reporting and consolidation systems.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience with Oracle ERP strongly desired.
- Experience with Hyperion a plus.
- SOX experience helpful
- Outstanding PC skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
